Hello, DANEIS Schools!
Buckingham Browne & Nichols School is excited to invite you to Cambridge for our Eighth Annual Parliamentary Debate and Public Speaking Tournament!
The tournament will take place on Sunday, December 8th, 2024. There will be two rounds of Parliamentary Debating (rules and procedures found here) and two rounds of Impromptu Speaking (rules and procedures found here). Each competitor must participate in all four rounds.
The cost of the tournament is $125 per four-person team. Observers who wish to eat at the tournament will be an additional $30 per head. Each school is welcome to bring up to one advanced and one novice team of four students each. If each school brings eight students in this fashion, we have room for sixteen schools. Space will be given on a first-come, first-served basis, with preference given to DANEIS member schools.
Registration also depends on each school bringing a judge for each 4-person team they enter—we cannot provide judges. Per DANEIS league rules, student judges cannot judge advanced debates. Parents and guardians of students debating in the advanced division should judge in the novice division. We ask that any students judging in the novice division be experienced debaters who have competed in DANEIS tournaments at the advanced level. Please be sure to brief your judges thoroughly before the tournament.
This year, BB&N has requested that we enter the age of online payments. As a result, we are asking that schools register their teams and pay using this link by Wednesday, November 20th.
We are looking forward to hosting you in Cambridge this December!
Sincerely,
Talayah Hudson and Sam Crihfield
